On the day when a lot of people out there will have celebrated Valentine's Day with someone special I their life, I spent the day with the little love of my life, Alexis.
We didn't get up to much; she went to church with my mum while I enjoyed sometime on the laptop, we both popped over to see my best mate who is back in the village for the weekend seeing his folks, a bit of time at the park that we had all to ourselves, a wander to the local shops, and then dinner this evening with my parents. Not the worst day at all...!
This is taken during one of the many times today she applied some of the birthday make-up she got. It was interesting watching her put it on, and how she looked at herself in the mirror given the fact she's so young. I just hope she doesn't grow up with the wrong impression of what she looks like or with a fixation on her looks.
She's beautiful, and I love her.
3 good things:
1 - A very chilled morning with Alexis, coffee and my laptop
2 - Seeing Bari and his folks with Alexis for a drink and a catch up this afternoon
3 - Bedtime stories this evening
Sounds like a perfect day with your little princess ;)
I've 2 girls of 14 and 17 and don't be afraid : they do like make up and clothes but it is not at the center of their lives, it's normal that they want to look pretty....but it's our job if parent to show them that school/activities/sport...are more important and useful ;)
@cocobella I know it's normal. Just a bit strange watching as a 7 year old acting grown up. And yes I will be doing my best to show her what is actually important in life. Even if she thinks sometimes that it might be make up :)
Blimey - she's more competent with the make up than I am. I am usually found doing the opposite - trying to persuade my daughter to put a bit of make up on - but then I wasn't really a role model - I have no real idea what to do with make up though I'm trying now I'm of an age where it really helps!! And Alexis looks beautiful and glittery! They aren't set in stone at 7 - my daughter no longer wears a Batman outfit at every opportunity and my son hasn't worn his fairy outfit for a long time (though he's at Central St Martin's where he really could rock that outfit if he chose!)
