I think it's a Rook and it wasn't afraid to be up close and personal
A rook, or maybe a crow? The beak is a darker than I see in most pictures of rooks. Rooks, ravens and crows seem to go out of their way to be confusing.

@gardencat I struggle to tell the difference too. I go by size with the Rook being in the middle of the three

A great shot. The saying goes "if it is one rook it is a crow but if there are some crows they are rooks". At least that is the case in my part of the Country.

It’s a crow. Rooks have white at the base of the beak, in fact the whole beak looks white. The difference is quite obvious once you know what you’re looking for. This is a fabulous shot btw. I always find black birds quite difficult to photograph. You did well.

Wonder detail in those feathers! I love crows... and never realized a rook wasn’t a crow and visa vie. I will have to read up now. I like how you caught him mid jump here.
