Crepe Myrtle by stownsend

Crepe Myrtle

I just love the crepe myrtle! It is beautiful spring, summer and fall. The leaves are so wonderful right now! (and as you can see, our neighborhood got new street signs this week! Yea! We REALLY needed them.)

Here is a picture of the same tree and a few others during the summer - http://365project.org/stownsend/365/2010-07-03
This tree is the one on the bottom, right.

Beautiful colors and I loved seeing the photo from July. I don't think I've seen these trees before. Are they mostly down south? How wonderful that they keep changing their colors.

@suelbiz47 Sue, I had never heard of them either until I moved to the south and now I am in love with them.

When I first moved to Richmond , I wondered what all the talk was about "Crate" Myrtles! Even now that I know the real name I still wonder what the reference to crepe means. They are a lovely addition to the southern landscape, no doubt about it.

Glorious photo Suzie! My Crepe Myrtle never looks like that. It just seems to go from life to death overnight. Hmpf!
