Evening Grosbeak by sunnygreenwood

Evening Grosbeak

The Evening Grosbeaks [Coccothraustes vespertinus] are still hanging around here, although the numbers are down drastically from the hundred or so that ate us out of house and home during the winter months. This is a female, not as colourful as her male counterpart but quite comfortable with the camera.
Wonderful. Grosbeaks are not common around here. I have never seen one (except for the cardinal which is in the grosbeak family).

@dreamer Thanks Peggy! The male is very colourful. I'll try for a pic of him soon, before they all leave for the summer.

How lovely she is! I've never seen a grosbeak "in person".

I used to have tons of them, and haven't seen one in years. I'm in New York. At least I know they are still around. Wonderful shot.

@kchuk @maggie2 Thanks! I think they've mostly moved on for the summer. We stopped putting seed out last week and haven't seen many since. They'll be back next fall.
