Quick Draw

I feel like a gun slinger in the wild west, only with a camera ..... I was waiting for hubby to get the car out of the garage and there on the stone beside me was this young male Common Whitetail. I whipped the camera out of my bag and had a pic before I blinked! I hadn't really ever noticed these until 365, and now I'm learning all about them! I originally thought this was a female but after further investigation [thanks Susan!], it seems that females have a different wing pattern ... black on the ends instead of in the middle.

Many thanks for dropping by!
This is beautiful! Good think you are quick at the draw!

Gorgeous! How the heck do you tell male from female?? Enquiring viewers must know.

@otprofsp lol, I'm learning as I go when it comes to dragonflies ... the males were white and the females were brown and white, as far as I had it figured out. Now that I've done some more checking, this is probably actually an immature male, as the females have a different wing pattern.
