A Late Bloomer by sunnygreenwood

A Late Bloomer

This Hosta is a late bloomer in my gardens. It's a no-name variety and one of my favourites! It's been around for years and I have no idea where it came from originally. It's one of only 3 or 4 plants that made the move with us to our new house 11 years ago. It's tall, with sturdy leaves which are almost totally slug resisitant. Not a brilliant plant to photograph for 365'ers but I need it in my album .... ;-)

Many thanks for dropping by and for your input.
It's beautiful! I love the black background, makes the lighting exquisite..!

@mwarren365 Thanks so much for continuing to drop by and give such kind comments, Mike! This pic is just of the flower, the leaves (which are not shown here) are all green, not fancy like some with ripples and variegation, etc., but they stay healthy all summer long.

The black is the perfect backdrop for the beautiful green of the plant.

Beautiful flowers. I cannot identify it without seeing the leaves, but it could be Halcyon if it has a bluish tint to the leaves: still number 10 rated in the world [out of >7000 hosta var] after decades and it has produced numerous excellent sports including the number 1 plant [rated by the AHS=Am Hosta Soc] called 'June', which was also Hosta of the Year in 2001. Here you can see the top rated hostas and the hosta of the year varieties. http://www.hostasdirect.com/hosta-info/american-hosta-society-ratings Just click on a name to see pictures of the hosta.
