The trees are very stressed due to the extremely dry summer we've had and it's causing some early and unusual colour changes. I don't ever remember seeing a maple leaf coloured quite like this, nor has there been a year where there is such a contrast in colours from branch to branch, even leaf to leaf on the same branch!
The lighting makes this so beautiful, Anne. Love the color variations and the textures. Yes, I've noticed the same thing on our leaves here. Some of them are actually dead-looking right next to the green ones. Much like yours. Great capture.
That certainly is unusual, but you have made a beautiful photo of it. I pressed a buch of leaves yesterday that I found on my nightly walk. Fall is in the air!
Nice shot. Looks almost veragated. We had lots of rain last week; and I think because of the dry weather, some f the trees down here are dropping their leaves early.
Truly extra-ordinary colours. We leave tomorrow to drive to Ontario Anne....going thru the US to the Sault, to Manitoulin, Parry Sound, Sutton area, Kingston and Pembroke and then up around Superior and home. I am excited to see some colours as I miss them out west.
