Redpoll Lunch at the Railing Café

I'd say this is a female Common Redpoll but I keep on the look out for one fairly rare Hoary Redpolls who will hang out in small numbers with a large flock of Commons like the flock we have visiting every day. Hoaries have a whiter tummy and a shorter beak than Commons but the differences between the two species can be slight depending on age, sex, and the time of the season. This one kind of looks like a Hoary ......

Many thanks for dropping by. I appreciate all your comments --- thanks for thinking of me. All is well, just busy. Lots of grandkid pics and videos, not so many birds and flowers ... ;-) Some Kala shots to follow soon!
Very cute closeup. She is out in the cold but looks pretty happy anyway. :)
