We experienced record breaking temps here today, low 40's with the humidity. It's day 3 or 4 of this heat wave and I don't have any pics other than family pics to show for the past few days so I went back to the loon collection from a week or two ago and pulled this one out for you.
It doesn't quite look real for some reason, especially on my husbands large imac, but it is! I cropped it and also, I photoshopped out a bit of the empty outer edges of "levels" graph. Neither of those things do anything to cause the decoy-like feel I get from this. The water is a bit weird too --- it's actually quite clear but appears green here due to reflections from the trees overhead.
So real looking or not, here is another shot of the loon who lives just up river.
Wow...you are getting the heat! We have been cooler here, so perhaps it will head your way and break into that heat-wave!

Wow! You are right I had to look twice as the loon doesn't look real. Amazing find and a beautiful capture .......definitely will have to fav this for the look and the awesome colors/reflections. Loons are an unusual looking bird anyway, so I don't find anything odd about this - it's beautiful! Hope the heat isn't getting you down. I'm so grateful for my A/C! The temp sign at the local high school sports field read 41C yesterday - and that doesn't measure the humidity. Murphy hates the heat - has to be encouraged to go outside to pee. He spends his days lying on top of the registers, hogging all the cool air.
