Monkshood by sunnygreenwood

Monkshood

I'm always amazed each October when the Monkshood [Aconitum] buds appear. The rest of the garden is going to bed for the winter and this plant is just beginning to bloom.

All parts of the plant are poisonous giving it a coloured history dating back thousands of years.

Many thanks for dropping by.
Always nice to have late bloomers.

Great detail on this closeup. They are a great boon to the fall garden, as long as no-one tries to eat them.

This is a great closeup of this plant. You can see all of the veining in the blossom.

Fairy-like. Sweet shot.

It rather reminds me of a fetus with the translucent skin and the 'vessels'.
