Pakenham Bridge by sunnygreenwood

Pakenham Bridge

I've shown this unique 5-span bridge a few times here at 365 in various seasons and from different views. Here's copy/paste of some of what I said last time if anyone's interested in a tiny bit of the history.

"It's a special bridge, unique in North America, and perhaps in the whole world. It is composed of five masonry arches that span 268 feet (82 m) to cross the Mississippi River in Pakenham, Ontario. It as built by Scottish stone masons in 1903. Locals are proud of the fact that it was the subject of one of the questions on the popular American game show Jeopardy a while back. Alex Trebek [Canadian host] likes the Canadian questions! ;-)"
This is a stormy looking scene but the bridge looks like it can weather a lot more than that. Nice place.

Looks like you've had a lots of rain the way the water is moving. Nice shot of this bridge from this angle.

What a great bridge. A real work of art! Those Scottish settlers knew a thing or two about masonry!
