A snapper for today's shot, and if you look closely, there may be two of them ... see the little head popping up out of the water near the big guy's tail! Or maybe it's a a snake taking a peek at the sleeping giant.

"Snapping turtles are believed to live well over 100 years. The sex of hatchlings varies depending on the temperature that eggs are incubated at; eggs that are kept at a temperature of 23-28°C hatch male turtles; eggs incubated at other temperatures hatch into females."

Gosh, that boy has some years on him - what a giant! Love all the wrinkles in those limbs. And I'm hoping that head is a small turtle - not a large snake!
