I think this is a little song sparrow, or perhaps with that eye ring, it's a vesper sparrow. [?] The back lighting is not making it easy to id this little bird! He/she was in an overgrown field near a wooded area, where we were walking to find the sandhill cranes.
Beautiful little bird! I was surprised that you have sandhill cranes in Ontario, as we have them in Florida as well. Some seem to be here all year, though there seem to be more in the winter. Do yours migrate south?
@eudora thanks diane! i don't think we have very many and yes, they do migrate. i noticed on the cornell bird site that they are not on our part of the map, summer or winter!
