The collection of China pics wouldn't be complete without a shot of the canal system in Suzhou, the "Venice of the East". The origins of the canal can be traced back to 495 B.C.
Here's some info from the Travel Suzhou site:
"The Grand Canal, like the Great Wall, is one of China’s most magnificent and astounding creations. Approximately 1,200 miles (1,776 km) from tip-to-tip, the Grand Canal is the longest man-made waterway in the world. Officially known as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, its route runs from Beijing in the north to Hangzhou in the south, connecting to various river systems along the way."
Such depth of field in this shot with the canal that disappears into the horizon. Great leading lines.
What a marvelous achievement for those long-ago engineers and workers. Though, I think I prefer our own Rideau Canal system!
