More happy colors cos life is not, not at the moment, no. Not that I am sad or depressed or have huge worries or anything like that but my life just lacks happiness. Simple as that.
This is surely cheerful, Just read something the other day, that works on me, something like: life and world is suffering for sure, but happiness is what we chose to position after it. So you have the power and it is up to you.
@yaorenliu Yeah that´s true, I have little control over most things that happend to me but I always have control over how I choose to react to them; no person can make me angry or sad -it ´s up to me will I choose to let them affect me. It ´s very simple in theory but not always as easy in practise. I guess I just have seasonal depression, I am always down at this time of the year, it´s the darkness and short days that gets to me, every year.
Great warm color Suse. Sorry you are feeling the blues the onset of winter is tough but it will pass. You are a creative person is there anyway you can make more use of that. Hopefully you will feel the sun on your face again soon.☺👍..
The fading flower puts on a defiant show of colour! Sounds like you have a touch of the SADs (Seasonal Affective Disorder - ?) I sit by a SAD therapy light at such times; today could be such a day, the weather is so dull and miserable here
@jack4john thank you for you kind words, and it´s really nothing to worry about, the decreasing of light will always affect like this, it´s the down side of living in the north. True that I can make some use of the mood as I have done in the past, like said no worries
@yrhenwr Yes indeed, I guess it is that (SAD), I´ve diagnosed myself already few years ago as possibly having that. Yeah this is why I always try to hang on to summer as long as possible, I don´t look forward to this season at all cos I can always notice how my mood will change. I am a sun person, I need sun to be happy but all we have here is grey blurriness. Those lights could be useful, have to check those out, thanks David and you too try to hang in there :)
My son who is a psychiatrist always says that autumn is the worst period of the year to cause depression. Exercise and long walks as well as forcing yourself to do something that is challenging should do the trick. Hope you get over it very soon. In the meantime this colourful shot should raise up your spirits.
@sangwann Yes indeed, your son must be right, I think the autumn and holiday seasons generally speaking the worst. Yeah, I have my tricks and it´s really nothing serious, so no need to worry - I am not clinically depressed, just a bit sad maybe. Yes those are all good ways to cheer me up, nature does wonders to the mood but it would help to have some sunlight too :) Thank you Dione for your kind and encouraging words.
Hang in there Suse! I can relate to the being a bit sad too. One day at a time is my strategy. I love the beautiful and vibrant colours I see in your photo. Fabulous details, it's a great shot.
I certainly understand the effect the shorter days can have on the psyche (and ours are not as short as yours!) but when the change the clocks here and it gets dark at 5 pm I just hate it. I feel like the day never really gets started and the darkness is robbing the breath of the sun. Thankfully when we start burning the woodstove (which has a glass front like a fireplace) the light from the fire is very cheery and warming. It cuts the edge of the early darkness and colder nights. So on to your picture- lovely colors and hopefully they will lift your spirits a bit. Nice shot!
Beautiful colors you've captured. I'm sorry about the struggle it is to feel that summery sense of happiness this time of year. Warmth and sunshine have a magical power, don't they, something that's missed by many during fall and winter.
@thimblelady@lyndemc Thank you ladies. Yes I agree sunshine has some magical powers and lack of it affects the mood. Let´s try to find some sunshine through sunny pics
@olivetreeann Yes we do that clock changing thing too -I hate it! The days get shorter every day and soon it will be dark when I leave to work each morning and dark when I get out and there in the middle it´s just dim greyness. I love burning candles though and I wish I´d have a fireplace, your woodstone sounds so idyllic and inviting, it surely will bring some light and atmosphere into a darkness. thank you for your thoughtfull comment
Beautiful colour and love the pov. Being someone who doesn't like the cold and find our winters too long, I really don't know if I would be happy living up north! I have read that quite a number of people experience what you describe, some much worse than others. I guess that the key is recognising it for what it is and trying to deal with it as best one can. I like Kate's philosophy of taking it one day at a time.
@salza Thnak you Sally for you insightfull comment. Yes depression is common here during these dark months and Finland has quite the high in suicide statistics, being the leading Nordic country in that area....yeah I like Kate´s philosophy too
You have ability to make use of very vibrant colour without it looking overdone - quite a skill I think.
SAD is awful and it must be particularly difficult to cope with in your country. We've had very little sunshine here this year. Tuesday was beautiful and I felt my spirits soaring like rapidly rising liquid in a thermometer.
I wish you all the comfort you need for the months ahead.
@dulciknit Thank you for your thoughtfull comment, yes indeed SAD is a terrible thing and I suspect I suffer from it mildly, I am just a bit down, not overly depressed.
