The sky was on fire this morning. Unfortunately I was on my way to listen a four hour lecture about HSP -highly sensitive persons so I didn´t have opportunity to seek a better scenery to shoot.
It was a very insightful lecture for I also am a HSP. I never really have though about it before but the speaker, a psychology and a couch Heli Heiskanen, made me see what an precious gift it is: as a HSP I am very empathic and very prone to sense emotions on other´s and there for I am able to help them better cos I intuitionally very often know what´s is causing the problem and what might be of help.
And yes it´s the cause for my very strong intuition as well that I have relied on practically my whole life to guide me on my decision making and which has given me insight into things yet not occurred, granted that I have not always enjoyed that but instead tried my best to suppress that part of the intuition.
Also my sensibility is behind every single picture I take, it is what make me notice and see the things I see, it´s a source of my creativity when ever I have any.
So today I embrace this gift of sensibility, I wouldn´t for any price give away this gift. Not even though it has caused me so much pain and suffering through out the years.
I love the shot! Colors and silhouettes are beautiful. Also your description is very interesting to me. What you describe with HSP sounds very similar to being an INFJ (which I am), from the Myers-Briggs personality types. Strong intuition and def sensitive. My daughter too, she nicknamed it "the curse". :)
@slash Sounds like you could also be HSP, I believe it no way excudes being INFJ. If you are also highly sensitive to stimulations like smells, sounds, light or colors you could very well be HSP. I for instance am overly sensitive towards lound Sounds and noise. Some HSP' can't watch surgery from tv cos they are feeling every cut for themselves like it was all happenig to them as well. I just sensitive towards atmospheres in places and moods in People, I can very easily feel what they are feeling. There are a lot of information about HSP in the internet and I am sure there are some tests you can take to determinate could you infact be HSP. I Have done the test but of course in the end it's up to you too determine does the description of HSP fit you. It''s not a disease, it's just means the nervous system is more sensitive towards some stimulations than most people have And that just makes a person unique.
@susale thanks for your reply. I'm not what I'd consider highly sensitive to smells, sounds or colors, light yes but think that came about because of contact lenses. I am highly sensitive to motion tho. Hmmm... It's the more the intuitive, sensitive toward people. I'm one of those folks who if someone else cries i'm likely to cry. Definitely am sensitive toward other people, e.g., empathic. A good thing! Especially in this day and age. Thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate you taking the time to explain. I did read some about HSP and think for me infj fits more. Interesting stuff. In my prior career we, took these types of tests to understand how to work and understand each other better. I'm naturally interested in what makes people, myself tick.
That must have been a very interesting lecture. Good to have insight to understand yourself and actions better. I've read about HSE and recognise some parts in myself. When I was younger I would pick up someone's mood and let it effect me, now I can take a bit of distance and not get upset and uneasy.
@slash Yes, it´s not a fine line between HSP and "normal sensibility" so you can be more or less, I think most of the people will find the description to fit into themselves in some parts so that´s why it´s not enough to have just one or two traits that fits. I too get emotionally moved very easily but I have learned how to turn my sensbility off so I don´t always need to be affected by the emotions around me. And yes sesibility is definitely a good thing! I am like you, I have always been interested about what makes people tick and why they do the things they do or why they react certain way. I have started to analyze myself ever since I was 17 years old, now I have pretty much covered all the layers in me but I think to get to know yourself is a life long process because you always change, every day and more you analyze the more it changes you -hopefully for the best. And the more you know and understand yourself, the more you understand others as well.
@overalvandaan Yes I know what you mean, I have learned how to turn my sensibility off or kind of distance myself of it at times, one kind of has to cos it´s so consuming to be affected all the times. To be able to live "normal life" one kind of has to learn how to control the sensibility. I for instance find meeting new people very straining cos I need to shut the sensibility off and that´s why I may come across reserved but when I get to know them better, I will open the doors so to speak and allow more information in and in turn the other person can see more of me as well. Self knowledge is definitely a good thing, I believe you get more out of life and I treasure my intuition, I´d be totally lost without it: being the kind of person that I am (cos of the HSP) I am prone to over think everything so I don´t know how I´d get any decisions done.
I find that all so interesting! I will have to read more about it.
