I was leaving the grocery store today and spotted this guy on someone's car. I've never seen one in person. The are so pretty. I wish that it had been on a better subject, but beggars can't be choosers right?
Fantastic find and capture. Probably if it would had been on a more natural subject, you wouldn't have seen it... it looks like a twig and some leaves.
A Lunar Moth! Oh WOW! Lucky you! I wonder why he was out in the daylight? Maybe it is a she and laying eggs? They act lethargic and weird when they are doing that. These used to fly in the light of our "security light" up on Blue Mountain, beside our house, at the start of our driveway...where the basketball hoop was. So I have seen them "in person" but it has been years. If I saw it, after a pic or two, I'd have tried to get it on my finger or camera bag for a pic! If it is sitting there in the day time, maybe it would not have flown away. I think you just don't touch their wings though..that damages them I hear.
This moth looks like something out of a fantasy story. The brown on top looks like a tree branch with leaves. Never seen anything like it...incredible! Fav!
