I took a photo of this public toilet graffiti at Batemans Bay because it struck a chord with me. Sometimes I'd just love to do that! Be more spontaneous, change plans without a care, burn all the friggin' maps in my head and just set out. Freedom from the expected!
Sorry, I'm a Mapaholic. I LOVE maps. I cant travel without a map beside me not so much to plan a route but to identify features along the way. So: Just set out - but don't forget your maps.
@terryliv But Terry, don't you ever feel the urge to throw caution to the wind and head off into the unknown, carefree of a set destination. Floating along, unplanned, free to explore at leisure without time constraints? Yeah, yeah, I know - I am full of it :-)
@teodw Absolutely. So off you go and you cross a lovely river. What river is that? Look at that mountain range over there, I wonder which one it is. There is a turnoff. What if the best waterfall in the world is down that turnoff but you don't take it. Its not about freedom, its about getting the most out of your freedom.
@teodw I was wandering around a map shop in the city one lunch hour many years ago and I confessed my addiction to maps to the owner. His reply? "Ah maps. Your window to the world" I couldn't have said it better myself.
I love your find and the concept of the message, but I am with @terryliv I'm a mapaholic and love them, so yes: set out with no plan, but with the maps. In todays world of GPS, which I love, I still carry the big map for the general view.
@terryliv luckily someone set out without a map, to make a map, otherwise we would all be living on a flat earth, thinking we would fall over the edge if we wander too far...
