Tiny Tim by timerskine

Tiny Tim

[NOTE: I've entered this one into the darkroom-action challenge, because I mean, really...look at him GO!]

We have at least one eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina) residing in our backyard...we've seen several but this one seems to be hanging out. This is despite having two dogs who are attracted to things living in their domain. The Missus named this one Tiny Tim. I must admit to not being overly thrilled with her choice, but she came up with a handle before I did so she wins.

Tiny Tim has a carapace (the upper shell) that's only about 5 inches long, front to back. He is much smaller than the last one we saw. He probably likes our yard because the back lawn is mostly wild strawberry, and we've had a bumper crop this year after a mild winter. In this shot he's drinking from a puddle under our deck from the Missus watering her flowers and herbs (see my shot from the day before yesterday https://365project.org/timerskine/365/2020-06-02).
Brilliant entry to the theme!!!
