This is a Lockheed Lodestar. Based on the Lockheed Model 18 Lodestar, it was built in 1946 for the US military and was designated as a C-60A Lodestar. It was used as a passenger and cargo aircraft, similar to the C-47 Skytrain (the Dakota to the British). It was sold into civilian hands in 1952.
It has been sitting at Chesterfield County Airport for about 10 years. It hasn't moved since I first saw it just under 4 years ago. The paint job is badly faded and the tires are flat. Makes me kind of sad.
