Every spring Richmond goes through The Pollening, a period where every tree, blade of grass, and flowering plant starts to have sex at the exact same time and there is dense pollen everywhere. Allergy sufferers suffer very badly, and you can write your name in the yellow-green powder covering your car. This year's The Pollening is markedly worse than the previous four we've experienced.
I had to take my truck to a carwash to remove the half-ton or so of tree dander it had accumulated (even with two spring showers over the previous week). This is the view through my wet, soapy moonroof of the carwash's fancy lights.
