Germany is melting.... +40C/+104F the entire day!

We are completely adhering to the Mediterranean life-style with siesta during the heat hours (which does not go away) and coming out and living after sunset. Kids love it. They also get all the ice cream they want.
As always, thank you very much for stopping by, commenting and critiquing. I am behind on commenting myself - the computers overheat as much as the brain does!
Wow!! Hoping for cooler days ahead

Your picture represents your hope for cooler weather amidst the heat wave, as if it's a red hot thermostat floating in cool water! I certainly hope it gets cooler before I get there in two weeks!

The heat wave finally broke in Belgium and I am hoping for you too! It is such a relief after a difficult week. Keep cool!

@jyokota Thank you so much for your comment! Sorry I didn't respond earlier - just catching up with my 365 life. It's great that you are coming to Germany, and I hope the weather will become more mellow by then. I don't think I will make it to Munich in that time as the summer turns out to be the busiest time for us somehow, but I think you would enjoy a visit to Ludwigsburg! It is really not far from Stuttgart - about 15 mins train ride. If you want, write to me at vera.irwin@gmail.com. We are in town till the 31st of August, after which we are off first to Crete, and then to Russia :)

@judithaltman Wasn't that nice to have a "colder" day? We had a breather yesterday, and today is back to the heat for one more day at least. I wish we would have gotten some of those thunderstorms the weather report keeps talking about for the other parts of Germany! :)

Thank you all so much for your comments! We got a break from the heat yesterday, which was very refreshing. But overall, it is pretty hot for Germany. Funny thing is, the only thing I want to photograph these days is water! :)

@vera365 -- I usually spend at least a month in Munich every summer, often much longer. But with only two weeks, I'm not sure I will travel but I will keep Ludwigsburg in mind (is that where you live?) @Taffy and I were in Crete earlier this year in late May for nearly a week and it's a lovely island. I'm going to Russia in September!

@jyokota You are quite a traveler! I read your "list" of places where you will go in one of the other posts, and it's quite impressive. You are very right though about the preference to travel some place for a longer time - you can't even begin to compare the experiences from a short trip versus a long one that lets you have a little look behind the facade of a new place. Yes, we live in Ludwigsburg, just north of Stuttgart. If you happen to travel here as well, we will be more than happy to welcome you here and show you around. I saw your pictures of Greece and Crete, and they reminded me a lot of my previous trips there as well - very welcoming and beautiful. Where in Russia will you travel? Visiting so many places must be a heaven for photography as a hobby!

Oh wow, hope you get some relief soon!

@vera365 -- I typically find myself dipping in and out of places long enough to give a speech, a few days to see the place, and then leaving. That's my life. I'm thankful for all the opportunities, but such visits mean I skim the surface. Living somewhere for months at a time at least allows you to dwell a little deeper than the surface. But interestingly, my photography improves most when I'm home and having to think more about what and how I am photographing! I'll definitely contact you if I get to Ludwigsburg/Stuttgart although it's not likely this trip. As for Russia, I will speak in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

@jyokota I could not agree more on having more time to think being better for photography. I struggle while traveling - while there are definitely more things to see, usually, there is no time for me to slow down and think about what I am doing with the camera. Enjoy your trip to Russia - I will be off to Saint Petersburg myself with the kiddies to visit family in August, so you will get some pictures from my feed as a preview for your trip. :)

@vera365 -- looking forward to your Russia photos -- and all others, too!
