He did good. Considering how big the Hermitage's Impressionists' collection is. The highlights were learing about Van Gogh's ear and figuring out that if you mix grey paint and white paint you can make something look like it is silver. :)
Thisone is by Herni Matisse, called "The Conversation". It was one of my favorite ones when I was little and used to be taken to the Hermitage, so it was interesting to see my own kid stopping in front of it to really look at it. @maggiemae
@phil_howcroft I think he got the point - on the way home he kept pointing out to me that I should note that the subway ceiling is not really white, although we think it is white. That I should actually look at it and see all the colorful reflections on it. And if I were to paint the subway station, I should paint the ceiling green and orange and blue, and we still will understand it as white.
