We did two things today - First we went to the Hauff Museum of the Prehistoric World in Holzmaden, and after the museum, since their adjacent excavating sight was closed (where kids get their own tools and can go dig for real fossils), we changed gears and went to the Castle Hochheuffen to watch the paragliders and the sunset (photo from the other album).
The Hauff museum is just stunning - it is an unusual spot that preserved a lot of marine dinosaurs and other life forms in the best possible way - often with parts of the fossilised soft tissue, and skeletons in their entirety. My only problem was - to pick a fossil to upload. I liked this one at the entrance since I knew it from the time I was a child, and I liked the strong lines around it that framed the shot.
Thank you for visiting!
Hi Vera -- This looks like art, though it is a fossil. Very nice. We're partners this week. How about depicting a scene from a fairy tale, or a scene inspired by a fairy tale? I've been looking through all that German material and it seems you've got the raw materials at hand! (if you don't like this, I'll try again)
great fossil too
