Discovered a new thing - As the University Musical Society brings a lot of wonderful performers to campus, some of them, as it turned out, give a free performance/rehearsal in the mornings that can be attended by anyone who can't really sit still through a long and formal evening concert. Although thought first and foremost for people with ADHD and Autism, these rehearsals also attended by families with small kids etc... So, today we tried one out - turned out to be just right for the kids. You are allowed to talk/walk/do whatever during the rehearsal. Kids can ask questions, play with something etc. Musicians were practicing for the evening and performed a number of pieced from the evening program. This quartet is called "Russian Renaissance" and they perform various genres of music on traditional Russian instruments.
What I thought was the greatest thing for kids to see - that the performers on stage actually practice, stop and try again, figure out the best way to play a piece etc... Otherwise, I almost feel, my kids think that once you are on the stage, you do whatever and it will just work out :)
Thanks for visiting!
