Christmas: Day 6
Finding the perfect tree is not a hard thing for me, I usually am able to walk right up to the first one I see and take it home. NOT SO with finding my poinsettia...I have to look over EVERY one, from all sides. It has to be deep red and huge full long petals and a lot of yellow centers, it has to have more red than green and and be really full of blooms. There is a greenhouse near my place that I usually find the perfect one. I was not successful today, I looked and looked, they are just wimpy this year. I asked what was wrong and the manager said that it is a bad year for poinsettias this year. They are a little bit behind schedule in growth. He said that another shipment from their main greenhouse will be in, so I came home empty handed, hopeful that the next stop in I will find just the right one. I usually keep them blooming an beautiful all through the summer, but I have only been able to get them to rebloom one time. I guess I really don't want to grow my own, it would take away from my yearly 'hunt'.
Still loving your checklist. . .and I am proud of you for giving yourself a CHECK even if empty-handed! Nobody says you should settle! I've noticed the same thing so far. . . still a great shot, though!
I love the red here! Good luck finding the perfect one! I like to keep mine alive and set them outside in the summer. They make a gorgeous potted plant.
@julie I am sure it is not a hard purchase for most people, it is just something I get worked up about...and I guess this year it is going to be even harder...I might not even buy one if I can't find a great one, I won't buy one just for 'buying' one.
You are just killing me with all that you are getting accomplished...could you drop one off at my house :) Pleeeeeaasssee! Great color, focus and dof! Beginning to feel alot like Christmas! xxoo
Hope you get one next time. I find they are quite capricious and even when they look good, sometimes they just start dropping leaves and bracts the moment you get them in the house. I seem to be lucky this year as I just picked one up in the supermarket and it's looking gorgeous and hasn't lost anything - yet! btw - your shot is lovely!
@pyrrhula Yes, all my life I did not know that until I took my first trip and realized in warm climates they grow outside all year long. I saw them as tall as rooftops! amazing.
I love pointsettias. Good luck finding JUST THE RIGHT ONE!!!
