A few weeks ago I finally found a little duck family down at the lake...well, actually it was not a little family...she had eight little ducklings to try and heard away from me. Yesterday, I spotted her again...only it was so sad to see that only two little ducklings were with her. Today, I found her and her mate but only one little one remains. So sad to see them go missing so fast. I am just hoping that maybe I am just seeing 3 duck families and so they are ALL still alive.
Awwww a lovely shot and bitter sweet story. I think sometimes the fish can eat the babies...especially bass. I guess it is part of life but hard to accept. I am sure there land and air predators as well. This shot is so wonderful..Mama looks so proud and protective.
What a great shot, Vicki. Love the detail and reflections that you captured. I know exactly what you mean that the babies disappear. It happens and there is nothing we or anyone can do anything about. This year I have been happy to see so many of one Mom's babies growing and looking like she has had even more or they are just smaller. The cycle of life happens unfortunately. This year we have had a lot of hungry hawks and some babies have vanished but we keep seeing more babies arriving. FAV
Nature is n`t always nice. But only two survivors are needed to maintain the species. But it`s always a pity. Great cute capture of those lovely duck s
Lovely and cute capture! Ducks around here are still busy making them, did see two pairs of swans with babies. Hope they will survive but nature is indeed not always nice.
