So the night we left Rome, we were delayed inside for about an hour due to lightning storms. I have never witnessed so much lightning in my life. One of the things I so want to shoot is a successful lightning shot. Here I was stuck inside and only able to watch it. Finally we boarded the plane, but then had to sit onboard for almost 2 hours by the time all the other planes in line were able to take off and it was our turn. The lightning was a bit less by then, but still happening. As we took off I help my camera to the window and kept the shutter down, just hoping something might come out. You can imagine how happy I was to get this one! The only shot I have ever even tried and it worked. I know...not that great, but at least I have something! I think it kind of goes for Halloween, as we are having a downpour right now.
This is incredible. John is always hoping to catch the "perfect" lightning strike..... says he hasn't yet. Hey --- guess what!!! It's raining here tonight. Wish it would continue through the weekend. It won't.
Wow, what an awesome capture, Vicki. Congrats on the TP. I think you got the rain that fell a lot more lightly than forecasted here. Perfect shot for today. FAV
@espyetta I was amazed it turned out...we had been on the ground about 2 hours delayed because of the storm. i have never seen so much lightning ever! It had pretty much stopped by the time we took off, but I saw it in the distance and hoped for it to turn out as we got closer, I just held down the shutter and waited. a lucky shot for sure
