Still Standing

Athens...another city full of history. Amazing walking through the ruins where so many have walked before. So impressive to see that they are still standing after all these years.
So cool to see! Did you study up on all of this before going or did you just read as you went? What's on the mountain in the background? Sorry probably too many questions but this is really interesting!

I studied up a little, but not a whole lot. Mostly just was making sure I hit all the top things that I had always heard of and wanted to see and shoot for myself. The Acropolis and Parthenon were top on the list. The mountain is Mt. Lycabettus, it us the highest point in the city and there is a church called St. Georges Chapel. This photo was taken from the Temple of Zeus which is next to the National Garden.

I remember feeling very much the same about the city- so much history stuck in between all the modernity! The Acropolis was awesome and so was Mars Hill.
