I thought I'd try something a little different today. I wanted to concentrate on the creative process during post-processing, and try to make the mundane interesting. I took a few photos of my globe and this is the end result.
The main tweaks were to increase the clarity and contrast in Lightroom and de-saturated the colours a little. Then I added a sparkly texture as a layer in Photoshop and changed it to an 'overlay', so it has this effect.
I've booked the day off tomorrow. I'm going to the Peak District again; the last time was way back at the end of last August. I really enjoyed that shoot (you may be interested in viewing the set of photos I took back then: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vikdaddy/sets/72157624843589968/), but I feel I can do better after accumulating more experience since.
By the way, yesterday's photo was quite popular and helped me exceed 600 followers. I must thank you all for thinking my photos are interesting enough to be worthy of following!

I'm in love with this photograph. I have an obsession with globes and anything geography-related. I have a minor in geography and would like to pursue a masters in that field as well, but this photo is splendid. Truly gorgeous and it's just....perfect. Amazing work!
This stood out from the thumbnail. It has a rich, deep, dark look about it. Very effective processing.
I just hit 600 myself! :)
