Just as I was congratulating myself on how much more smoothly it was, sewing the ribbons and elastic to the second shoe, and thinking that I might finish stitching before 11 p.m. . . . somehow I wound the end of the ribbon around the shoe and sewed it to the opposite side. It probably goes without saying that you shouldn't start sewing ribbons onto pointe shoes at 10:00 at night after trips to the grocery store for dinner and Target for ink and after catching the washer just as it was about to overflow . . .
