Nick rode down with Jack and me so we could try two places that Alton Brown went to when he visited Richmond in November. We had the chicken biscuits at Saison Market . . . so good! AB said the Proper Pie Company had the best pumpkin pie he had ever eaten. It was divine . . . pumpkin with a salted caramel topping. We had to get it to go and eat by the James River -- not enough seats inside! It was totally worth eating outside in January next to a partially frozen river. The sun was shining so it wasn't too frigid. Boys are back at their respective schools now, so all-in-all a bittersweet day.
