paint chips . . . by wiesnerbeth

paint chips . . .

. . . from the aesthetic poetry workshop at the Northern Virginia Writing Project spring conference. I got lots of great ideas for poetry projects in the fourth quarter. Of course I had to check all the bags at all the nearby seats to see if I liked them better . . .
The Lowes store here will save the paint sample cards for teachers if you ask them to. I have never used them for poetry, but I have used them for many other lessons!

@laurielizard ooh what have you used them for? I have the Lowe's near my mom's house saving them now. Will probably have to share them with my sister -- she's a teacher too!

So many things: bookmarks, contractions, word families (you need the one with the window), Elokin boxes, synonyms, shades of meaning, roots and affixes. Search on Pinterest under 'paint chips in the classroom' or 'teaching with paint chips'. Most of my ideas are from there and not original. I've always found that alternative materials (like paintchips) foster high engagement and learning. Fun!
