Both these books reminded me of an old friend from college. Weird, since they are two completely different types of books — one is a hard-boiled mystery about a game warden and the Endangered Species Act set in Wyoming and the other is two intertwined love stories set in Maine. We did not go to college in either of these places and (to my knowledge — although we haven’t spoken in 30 years) neither one of us is a game warden, carpenter, artist, lawyer, or blueberry farmer.
