birdfoot violet

Shortly after taking this photo the park ranger showed up. Although I didn’t see the logo on the truck when it pulled up so my first thought was that I was being kidnapped, so I scurried to my car then realized he was actually pulling over to cite me for pulling over on the side of the road. Photographing wildflowers can be quite dangerous. At least the way I do it.
He cited you? As in, gave you a ticket?? Sorry. I think this violet was worth it, though.

@eudora I thought t was worth it too! I’m pretty sure he was planning to cite me — he’d actually passed me twice — but when I got in my car he drove away. I’ve stopped along the side of the road in the battlefield many times over the last seven years to wander around searching for wildflowers. It drives my kids crazy since the whole stretch of road is marked “no parking.” It was only a matter of time before I got caught. I’m thinking my gray hair made him think I was dotty and harmless but now I may have to switch up my getaway car!
