double prizes

I was rushing in before closing to pick up my Dolly Parton book and there was the new Joe Pickett just sitting there out in the open. It wasn’t even a Fortunate Find, so I can keep it the whole three weeks.
I've never read a Joe Pickett novel. Is there a good one to start with? Forgot about the Dolly book - pretty impressed that it was already available at the library. I have a feeling it'll be a wait here.

@margonaut yeah I waited about four or five weeks for Dolly I think. Joe might be an acquired taste — in the last two years I’ve been obsessed with three game warden and sheriff mysteries set either in Wyoming or Maine. I have to read everything in order, so if you think you’ll like western mysteries, for Joe (Wyoming game warden) start with “Open Season.” For Mike Bowditch (Maine game warden) start with “The Poacher’s Son” by Paul Doiron. And for Walt Longmire (Wyoming sheriff) start with “The Cold Dish” by Craig Johnson. I think the Longmire series is my favorite but if you like this type of mystery all of them are good — a commitment though: there are 17 to 20+ books in each series.

@margonaut Oh good . . . I don’t have to turn in my librarian card just yet.
