rose gentian . . . still blooming

I have a slight obsession with this little wildflower. Eight years ago I found it growing in this nature preserve, but never saw it again until this year — almost eight years to the day and in the same spot where I first saw it. I’ve been going back every Sunday for the last three weeks to check on it. Every time I’m afraid they will have mowed it down.

So pretty! I like the center of it. The leaves look familiar. Hope that is not what I pulled up this morning between rain showers.

@eudora The flowers are so pretty but the actual plant is kind of scraggly. It would be easy to mistake it for a weed!
