thanks to @autumnseden I ordered the Tamron AF70-300 lens from Amazon & even though it wasn't due to arrive until the 5th December, it arrived at lunch time today!! I haven't had much time to play with it because I'm off to work now, but I did fire off this shot of a chilli in my garden :) hope to spend some time on it tonight.
