Remnants of the Ancient Wall

This is an astronomical observatory built around the 17th century on a section of the old wall in Beijing. This dragon is one of four holding up the sextant (for measuring the distance between two stars). You can see one claw in such an intense gesture; I can only have admiration for the imagination of the sculptor
It would be metal? Or concrete! I agree - the carving of the dragons is so artistic and part of the history!

Great picture! It seems that he seeks for freedom and reaches for the stars for those he was created! I also like textures in this picture!

Beautiful sculpture! You have caught some of the verdigris on it, giving it that wonderful mixture of colours. Love the textures of the scales. Great capture.

This is a beautiful photo and great angle. The claw looks like it is reaching out to catch something. A star perhaps?

I am just catching up with your Beijing photos and loving every moment. Brings back memories of my trip there. Love the collages. How have you done them. I just love the whole methology of dragons. That claw looks dangerous reaching out at the viewer.
