Vandals and Decay

This is a statue at Stan Hywett Hall, the F.A. Seiberling Mansion in Akron Ohio. Seiberling was the founder of Goodyear Tire and Rubber, now famous for their blimps. I'm not sure why people choose to deface art. This piece had such a delicate touch, it's a shame.

Always thought Charles Goodyear was the founder of Goodyear - and invented of vulanised rubber and all that...

Agree tho that it's bang out of order those folk that go around defacing these statues and monuments...

@andycoleborn Charles Goodyear invented vulcanized rubber, but the company was named after him by Sieberling

These days they just dont care. When I listen to the radio some times and I hear the comments made about others as a joke I often wonder why they do this to belittle people. I think again its because they just dont care. But this is still a great statue.

@yentlski true,,, 40 years after his death..

Interesing to research and find that he didn't even invent vulanised rubber in fact... Thomas Hancock first patented it...

Another win us the Brits ;-)

Lovely statue. I'll never understand why people do this sort of thing.
