Lilliputian

I had Ken retrieve the unhatched egg from the nest as I really wanted you to see this! (I gave him a flat-ended toothpick with honey on it...) When I photographed the hatchling next to the egg on June 1st, I don't think that egg looked all that tiny... But here, I cropped the nest to scale, and added the egg of a cockatiel (in my fingers) I saved years ago. Pretty remarkable, isn't it?!
Wow - very cool!!! I love it - so little...

that's awesome! now i have a craving for scrambled eggs.

btw, i have a quail egg that's been dipped in gold and made into a pendant. i should retrieve that from the safe, might make for a nice photographic subject, if i decide to break it. :-)

@colorfade At Easter, we can buy little bags of "Hummingbird Eggs"...flavour and texture between a Jelly Belly and Jelly Bean! Now that I've held the real thing, I think they nailed the product!

Amazing shot and yes, quite the comparison. How can something that small hold anything inside. Well, a little bird, I guess!!
