Judith seems to be something of a neighborhood sensation as a second suitor came calling yesterday and this morning there were three! We, in the neighborhood, are all waiting in anticipation as to where she'll set up her nest.
I love ducks but sometimes the males can be very aggressive to the female at mating time and there are often more than one male to the one female. Looks like they are ganging up on Judith!! Perhaps she doesn't mind!! LOL!! Lovely capture!! Fav!
@pamknowler Yep...you obviously know all about the ducks! I thought I was going to capture them as they took to the air...bobbing heads, body language I've come to recognize... but no, suddenly it all turned x-rated...'nuf said!
@eyesmile One or more has hung around all day..and "Judith " is often amongst them. I'm watching for the total...Last year we had up to Seven!
@shepherdmanswife She won't nest here with babies because of the cats. The cats give the big ducks no notice, but they're smart enough to know the babies need a safer place!
@novab Thank you, Nova! Only minutes ago Ken was chiding me about being "so generous"... Told him I was only looking out for God's littlest creatures... And he told me that "*I* don't clean up after them...he does..." So I told him God would appreciate that... (I look at it like this...he signed on when we got married all those years ago!)
@gaylewood I only know of one year she brought the ducklings to the pool...and I had a house sitter here at the time! But Tracy sent photos!
@redy4et Last night the ducks were still here and eating from the bird-seed tray when the raccoon approached them! It was midnight and I was suddenly too fascinated to snap a photo! The ducks just plopped into the pool and yes, I did get many photos of Marshmallow! I love my wildlife!
