Walter Delahunt is the Pianist in Residence, a skilled artist in his own right and accompanist for many singers and musicians coming to the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance. He's a quirky, curmudgeonly man who was darkly unhappy that his dog had to remain in Germany during the months he was here. (I haven't said anything he wouldn't heartily agree with!)
When I returned to town in May, the programs were already underway, and everyone wanted to introduce me to the new "Dog in Residence"! Israel is amazingly well-trained and well-mannered! This is his place at every performance, delighting everyone with his presence.
Happy Dog. Very happy Pianist! Walter's as quirky as ever, but far less curmudgeonly!
Great capture, details, light...When I take care of Luna (niece's cat) and play their piano, Luna either sits by the piano pedals or jumps up behind the music sheets :).
@seattlite Fascinating! Some must obviously love music! As soon as Walter sits down to play, Israel settles right there or alongside! While I capture a photo or two, I know two other artists who attend with sketch books and draw pictures of him!
What a great capture Louise! Love the movement in his arms as he is playing! Lovely story about the dog - so cute! I am pleased Walter is not as grumpy this time! Lol! Fav!
@chard When out and chatting, that dog locks on to Walter's face (even with many people in that space) so you got that one 100% correct! Right sort of dog, too!
when my son was young and played his violin near the piano our cat used to stand up on her back legs on the stool and put her front paws on his arm. I'm sure a lot of animals love music.
