Ashley called out that there was a lizard inside, and Dylan sprang into action to catch him! With the lizard cupped in his hands, he came to show it to me, but my first thought was to put him some place where he couldn't immediately escape while still in the house! Speedily he removed a gift from the box and in went the baby lizard! He was SO excited!
He wanted to know what he could keep him in, and then, answering his own question, there was a round of "I know! I know" and he dashed out the back door! They'd recently become the proud owners of a couple of tanks of fish, and he knew right where there was a cast off fish tank!
Ashton went across the street to a rock pile, and I planted a small succulent I plucked from one of Ashley's plants. We arranged rocks and put in a base layer of sand, topping it with a few decorative glass pebbles meant for the fish tank! Voila! I added a piece of banana peel and watermelon that I hope will attract gnats, and Dylan was beyond happy with his new pet, "Lizzie"!
I pointed out that, like his Mommy takes good care of him, he now has to take good care of Lizzie.
@golftragic Dylan told "Papa" that they let the lizard go today...probably best for the lizard, and he got plenty of happy excitement while it lasted! It must be a good year for lizards; we've found babies everywhere!
