Celebrating the end of the year and day 100 of my project today--WOOT ! ! !
It was a very dull, gray day today with no interesting clouds whatsoever. Took a drive and ended up the cliffs near San Simeon at dusk so decided to try some long exposure shots of the water. It was a stretch to eke any color or drama out of my shots and ending up overdoing it a bit on this one, but oh well. Learning something every time I try these HDR thingies!
Was a bit late in posting due to spending New Years Eve with Heather's mom, gorging on pizza and cake, watching movies and the Twilight Zone marathon--but it was worth it!
Happy New Year, all--Wishing you peace and happiness in 2011!
PS - I'll be catching up with all you kind folks this weekend! :-)
Happy New Year and Happy 100!!! great shot, even tho you say it was grey love the hues in this pic and the greens are just perfect. Looking forward to keeping up with you in 2011!
soooo much texture jenn, gorgeous :)) you know... you're gonna win the theme one day and then make the next theme "HDR" .... and then you'll win THAT week too hehehe ... this is nice, i like it more 'cause of all the graininess, and the HUGE forground :))
Really nice HDR image!
What do you think about HDR vs graduated neutral density (GND) filter? I've try HDR, and i think with proper 'tweaking', it comes great. Not yet try GND... maybe soon i'll try it.
@wahyusp Hi, Wahyu! I really love using GND filters for a more "true" or natural look, but the HDR processing seems to eke out more color and detail. Just depends on preference, I guess?! :-)
I don't think you overdid it - I tend to "underdo" it. I am still learning too. Some of my HDRs are good and others just don't look any different at all. Hmmm. I am not really sure how many exposures to use, and how far down/up to adjust them in RAW. So it's very it and miss. I only have done two so far that I feel I got completely right. But I really do love this one, it works because the scenery is beautiful and your HDR gives it such depth. If you had done the same using people maybe not, but seriously with the landscapes you can get away with it! Excellent work.
AND congrats on 100... I nearly quit and then I reached 100 and felt recharged. From here on out, it gets more fun and exciting, I think. Now that I only have less than two months I'm feeling a bit bummed out. So I'm trying to make each image count whereas before it was more of a "chore".

I must learn how to do it too but I guess it is too early for a beginner like me .
Happy new year to you.
