I saw a shot like this in a mag a few months back and thought I must give it a go, but then completely forgot about it. Then recall Vik doing a shot a little while ago ( http://365project.org/vikdaddy/365/2010-07-26) and as I was wondering what to take today, I thought... Hmmm... let's see if I can do something similar...
It was quite a bit harder to do than I expected, especially when holding the camera and not using a tripod!! It was in the car and I was too lazy to walk down and get it..
Used sugar but would of preferred to use sand - if I happened to have some sand hanging about the flat that is.. Turned into B&W and darkened as it looks more effective than the colour version.
Thanks Vik for today's pic - that's two I've copied now - this one and an idea I used at work...
Miserable day weather wise... rained pretty much all day. Suitable weather for my first day back in the office after 2 weeks away I guess..
I actually prefer Vik's pic to mine, I feel mine doesn't show enough of the grains falling... And Freida, this was the idea I 'borrowed' for a leaflet I was putting together http://365project.org/vikdaddy/365/2010-06-10
It took a LOT of shots, and I was hardly happy with any of them. As Andy says, it's harder than it looks. I said it then and I'll say it now, "plagiarism is a requisite of photography". As long as you get the credit for it!
Great shot though!
Love the B&W!
