Salvaged wood from an antique sewing machine table

The weather was very wet this morning and the heavy overcast made everything outdoors look flat and unattractive, so I went looking around the house for something interesting to photograph. I found these pieces of wood that my brother-in-law salvaged from a damaged Singer sewing table recently. I plan to turn them into book ends.

I had to use my cellphone for this image because I scalded two fingers on my right hand last night and it's not comfortable to hold my DSLR right now. :-(
Ouch to those fingers! The cellphone did a lovely job on these pieces and what a clever idea to repurpose them. Like your presentation of them.

Oh Berni! I'm so sorry to hear about your burnt fingers- ouch!! But your cell phone did you well here. Those pieces are really nice and I think they'll look really nice as book ends.

@milaniet @olivetreeann My fingers are feeling much better, and I was able to use the DSLR just fine this afternoon. I admit that I didn't expect the injury to be healing so quickly, but I'm very gratefutl it is!

I just couldn't let these pieces be tossed in the bin with the damaged wood for disposal.
