I have been feeling a little uninspired lately. I think I need a good challenge to get my photographic blood pumping again! There is nothing better to get your blood pumping than a good one night stand, or maybe seven! :o) Here's the challenge;
I found an article on photography styles. I randomly picked seven, one for every day of the week. (see where this is going) The challenge is to do a different style of photography every day for a week. Just one post of one style per day. After you post the first on the list you move on to the next, love em' and leave em' ! ;)
Here is the list:
Black and White
Low Light Photography
Macro
Street
Self Portrait
SOOC
Slow Shutter Speed
Tag your pics onenightstand. Have fun and maybe every morning we might get a note on our pillow! ;o)
If I start today, that puts my street shot on Sunday..... which means unless I hang out near a church when its getting ready to let out, I probably wouldn't get any people in the photo... that, or I'd have to drive out of town.
@orangecrush great idea. I am in. Nervous about the street shot. Does it count if I get my family to stand on the street?! lol @socalgal So jealous...I want one. All I have is filters. Enjoy!
Hmmm, I've been feeling like I need a creative boost lately too. These are pretty challenging, but I'd like to give it a try. Even as I typed that I almost groaned. Time has been even more of a problem than creativity. So tomorrow (Friday) is b&w day?
@orangecrush Thanks Jerry. I've got to be able to come up with something a lot more creative than the dirt in my driveway. Street should be do-able as I'm going into town on Sunday with my camera club. Just need the right subject.
@orangecrush I just remembered that I actually did have my husband and my sister mock up a street scene back in the summer for one of the weekly themes!
Just creeping back from the land of bronchitis. ;) Thought I'd give this a try! This is honeysuckle after a little spring shower this morning. I'm trying to figure out my new extension tubes!!
Day 2: SOOC. Have a question though. Still new at this. My Canon is alittle beat up. Every once in awhile it changes the date back a few hours or even a day on the time stamp. So the capture was taken today, but came up as yesterday. If I change the date, say in Picasa, but nothing else, is it still considered SOOC?
@losthorizon Might want to check if your am/pm or 24 hr part is set right. I thought my camera was dating wrong, sometimes, turned out it was just changing day at the wrong time.
@tigerdreamer Thanks Karen. Did check that awhile ago, but that wasn't it. I'm wondering if maybe its resetting itself every night at midnight or if the programming has gotten some sorta glitch in it. I figure I just have to be more aware of it before I start shooting.
Ok $6 for flowers for the macro, $10 for parking for the street shot... onenightstand challenge priceless. Thanks, Jerry for getting me out of my comfort zone. Hope I still feel the same way after tomorrow.
Street shot
Yeah, obviously street photography’s not my thing, but I do plan to try it again. I just need to find some more interesting surroundings than the Midwestern suburbs.
OK. Challenge complete @orangecrush Thanks for the insperation. You must do this again soon. This week I have nearly caused a fire, learnt how to use the remote on my camera, felt like a criminal taking photos of straingers and decided I need practice on slow shutter photography. Cheers
Sooooo Jerry....since this was such a raging success, would you be interested in heading up another one of these. The idea really did help keep me focused and inspired each day. Don't know why my own lists didn't have that effect on me...
Jerry, I'm not going to post a photo here, because all of my photos this week were at such a beginner's level. But they were at a new height of beginner's level that really excited me. Thank you so much for making me stretch and learn things I've always wanted to try. This challenge came at the very worse time in my work schedule, but it kept me going on...
@orangecrush yep there is one of your strong points right there!! love your beach shots :) was a great idea and i really enjoyed it after my initial hesitation :) I too enjoyed seeing what everyone came up with, bring on round two !!!
@orangecrush thank you! It was great fun, I really enjoyed the challenge and trying new things. It was great to see how everyone interpreted the different genres :)
@orangecrush thank you for thinking this up!! sorry I didn't go all the way through with it, but I think I'll go back to it for ideas when I need a little photography boost :)
@orangecrush What a way to finish - This is an incredibly stunning shot. Jerry. Thank you for hosting this. First challenge or theme I've really gone after in my 3+ months on 365. Had a ball and learned a ton! Looking forward to your next one!
@orangecrush Thanks for the challenge,Jerry. I was perfect ! Vague enough to allow creativity and precise enough to push us to experiment for new skills and short enough to prevent burnout!!
@exposure4u This will be fun! Hopefully it works! ;)
@nikkic Cool! I can't wait to see your pics! :)
And my new 100mm macro is out for delivery to me today, so I'm looking forward to using it for this challenge.
I'm in the same boat right now, total creative brain-drain! This will really get those creative thoughts flowing through my lens, thank you!!!

I just finished my challenge and just wanted to say thank you to all of you that participated and made this so fun! It was exciting to go through each subject together and share our excitement, nervousness, and fear of each one and know everyone else was going through it too! This really stretched me and made me realize my weak points and strong points! It also made me realize there are some extremely talented people here! Thank you again!!! I saved the original list of photography categories so I'll be ready for round 2! ;)
