I am thinking about getting one of these. I have been seeing some really nice pics and would like to give it a try. What diameter balls are most of you using? I have looked around locally at the malls and have not found anyone who sell them. I have seen them on ebay, where have you been getting yours? Thanks for any input.
I know some people with some pretty big ones and they say now that the smaller ones are probably better...you can carry them with you more easily. Most of the ones I see people using now seem to be about 1.5 inches in diameter maybe? They do some awesome things with them! I want to order one too..just keep putting it off. I will get a smallish one.
@hollandcrew You might take your camera to a landscaping/decor center. They use them in gardens on top of bird bath bases. Then you could experiment with the "gazing balls" in person before you buy.
Al, I ordered mine from Amazon. They have all sizes. Look under crystal meditation balls. I have a 80mm. It was $20. Mine is heavy. I like it, but I would like to have a smaller one. Be careful in the sunlight! It's easy to get burned. :0)
I took mine out of a windchime/garden decoration hangy thing. I think I found it at Walmart. It amazes me that though small I can feel its weight in my bag and Yes it is easy to get burnt! Got a nice little thumb burn!
Mine is 40mm and I'd like to buy one that's a bit bigger when I get the chance. It came from the Astrology Shop in Covent Garden London - http://www.astrology.co.uk/Books.htm - and cost £4.99 - I would say go to a shop and look through them - this one has a bubble in it that I try to put my thumb over
Just got a 50mm one from Amazon. The magic and wand shop I think. 2 good reviews from photographers and 1 new age write up that said it had positive aura.
The crystal balls are so cool looking. Now have a longing for one. I looked at a local garden center today and they had big ones but bigger than I wanted. They were about $50. They also had a few smaller ones but they were either green or blue and they weren't totally round. They had a stem kind of thing on one side of them. I'll have to keep looking.
I did take a picture of one they had displayed among the plants. It was kind of spotty looking being out in the weather so I'm debating whether to use it or not on 365. I kind of liked the reflections in it.
@hollandcrew@chewyteeth Just an FYI I saw small ball finials on top of lamps today - thought they would be cool as you could use the screw in part to hold on . Dave these would be berries versus balls ( per my husband), thanks for making me laugh.
.
how big are your balls Jase?
does it have to be a ball, or can if just be a magnifying lens?
Tina would have had a good answer to this question. ;(
