Did anyone see this article on Yahoo today? Noticed it when I logged in to check mail. Quite clever! I can't imagine the amount of work it took to take the new photo from the same view point as the original - not to mention finding the locations:
I had heard it called "Dear Photo" photos. I did one a while back..right after my mom died. We went to the house where I grew up (just down the street from her last house) and held up an Easter photo from when my family stood in that yard's lawn, but about 44 years earlier...it was a moving experience.
@espyetta - Thanks for sharing that, Mary Beth - it's exactly the same kind of thing - you did an amazing job. That's awesome! Is that little you in the front left?
@jankoos Yep. that is little old me. Wearing a light yellow cotton dress with smocking at the top and lacy version of what we used to call "Plastic pants"..you know those plastic diaper cover things babies wore over cloth diapers back in the 60s? That is my sweet mom in her pink suit and my two big brothers. The smaller brother with the yellow rabbit..his daughter (my niece) who was 15 at the time, came with me on this photo walk, and she took her version too. And we had found that photo just like that heart shape in my mom's house.. in a heart shaped frame. awww.. I love this photo because of that. It is my tribute to my momma's love for her kids.
@espyetta - that's a very heartwarming story, MaryBeth. Oh yes - I have a pic of me somewhere with pink plastic pants on. LOL.
I love that you have that photo of your mom and her kids.
